Bella's Bedtime Prayer
A Bedtime Prayer for Protection and Peace
Dear God above, so kind and true,
I give tonight’s big thanks to You.
Please keep me safe the whole night through,
And guard my family — all of them too!
Bless Mom and Dad and Grandma dear,
Keep Grandpa, friends, and classmates near.
Watch over those who have no bed,
And give them food and love instead.
Please bring Your peace to every land,
And guide the world with Your kind hand.
I’ll sleep now, Lord, no need to fear —
I know Your angels hover near.
Amen.

The Jesus Storybook Bible (Sally Lloyd-Jones)
We found each story to take about 5–7 minutes to read, and they all point to Jesus in the end! The language is gentle — perfect for helping your little one wind down. The art is soft and calming, and the stories flow like a conversation to inspire a healthy Tiny Bible chat before bed. Available on Amazon in English and Spanish.
Reading age: 2–7 years · Grade level: Preschool–2nd · Length: 352 pages
Our suggestion: Read one story per night — The Story of Creation, Noah, or Daniel work beautifully as standalone bedtime tales.
The Beginner’s Bible: Timeless Children's Stories
This Bible has simple sentences, bold 3D pictures, and shorter stories that take about 3–5 minutes to read. These tiny stories are great for toddlers and preschoolers who might not sit still for long. You can grab these on Amazon — the perfect way to begin your Bible journey in both English and Spanish.
Reading age: 2–6 years · Grade level: PreK–2 · Length: 512 pages
Our suggestion: Help them get familiar with the characters — pick a favorite hero like David or Esther, or a theme like God’s promises or kindness. Even half a story works if they’re extra sleepy!
The Big Picture Story Bible (Redesign) (David Helm & Gail Schoonmaker)
Big, sweeping visuals and a gentle narrative voice make this perfect for grandparent-style storytelling. The stories are a bit longer — about 7–10 minutes — but easy to pause and pick up the next night. It’s great for sparking curiosity and excitement about Bible stories. We searched and found that this Bible is available in Chinese-English, Arabic, and Spanish editions — but they’re a bit harder to find online. Once we locate reliable links for these versions, we’ll update this post so you can access them easily. Get it on Amazon (English version).
Reading age: 2–7 years · Grade level: Preschool–2nd · Length: 456 pages
Our suggestion: Read it over two nights — pause and ask what they think will happen next!
Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible (Joanna Rivard & Tim Penner)
Richly colored, whimsical illustrations bring 33 Old & New Testament stories to life in this beautifully embossed hardcover. It’s written for ages 4–8 and designed to guide young readers through the big story of God’s love. Available on Amazon (English version only) at this time.
Reading age: 4–8 years · Grade level: Preschool–3rd · Length: 224 pages
Our suggestion: Let your child explore one story at a time — perhaps Noah or Jesus — and ask them what they notice. The upbeat visuals often spark questions and giggles, making it a fun way to connect with God’s Word together.
NIV Adventure Bible
This is a good fit for slightly older kids who can handle “chapter story time.” The Adventure Bible includes fun side notes, while Tiny Truths is gentler and has more pictures — perfect for bedtime. We searched for alternate language editions but only found English versions of this Bible currently available. We'll update the post if new translations become available.
Reading age: 8–12 years · Grade level: 4–6th · Length: 1,472 pages
Our suggestion: Make it interactive! The Adventure Bible has a treasure-hunt feel, packed with fun facts and matching Bible verses under “Words to Treasure” — great for helping kids memorize them.
The Book of Belonging (Mariko Clark)
A newer gem that’s soft, reflective, and beautifully inclusive. It features 42 diverse Bible stories for kind and contemplative kids (ages 6–12), with more women characters than any other story Bible. The language is poetic and comforting — perfect for peaceful, end-of-day reading. Available on Amazon (English version only) at this time.
Reading age: 7–12 years · Grade level: 2–4th · Length: 288 pages
Our suggestion: This is wonderful for those nights when little ones need extra reassurance that they are loved and safe.
Right now, we’ve only found these available in a few languages, but it’s always a good idea to check Amazon from time to time. They’ve been around since the beginning and are still the biggest bookstore in the world — so if new translations pop up, that’s likely where you’ll find them first!
Some of these Bibles may soften or simplify parts of the stories to make them easier for young minds to understand. The writers thoughtfully adapted them to be gentle, knowing that biblical times were very different and some events can feel harsh through a modern child’s eyes. The heart of the message is still there — to help children understand God’s love and His story.
